Lisa's project is focusing on the generation of tolerogenic bone marrow derived dendritic cells by gene therapy and chemical modification, for the application in allogeneic transplantation.
Research Project Area:
The hypothesis of Lisa's project is in-vitro generation of syngenic bone marrow derived dendritic cells (BMDCs) and their subsequent overexpression of immunomodulatory molecules by viral gene transfer will prevent corneal allograft transplantation rejection. The main objectives are to optimise the culture conditions for in-vitro generation of BMDCs, to investigate and establish an efficient method of viral gene transfer of BMDCs and to study the effects of administration of these genetically modified syngenic BMDCs in-vivo in a corneal transplantation model.
