Research Information Management System

NUI Galway have recently awarded the Research Information Management System contract to Vidatum Technologies. This software system will support NUI Galway in meeting its own, and external needs, in the areas of research data management, reporting and dissemination, alongside open access to research publications. This will replace the current RSS and remedy the current situation where it is clear that lack of integration between existing systems or with external systems is a barrier to efficient and sustainable workflows, resulting in incomplete data, time-consuming reporting processes and loss of competitive advantage. Extensive engagement with Vidatum Technologies, NUI Galway academic and support staff will continue as we work through the installation process to ensure that the system meets the needs of those who will use it. This software will enable researchers and academic staff to input and maintain information on their research expertise, research outputs (including publications) and interests. In addition the system will seamlessly integrate with the University’s institutional repository, discipline/school/college/centre web pages, human resources system, financial management system, student registration system and external systems e.g. ISI.

Research Support System (RSS)

The Research Support System (RSS) is a dynamic catalogue of research personnel within NUI Galway. The database helps researchers to keep their information regarding research output up to date and accurate. The system is been upgraded with improvements in all features as well as the integration with complementary systems including the library’s institutional repository. These improvements will allow for the dissemination of scholarly outputs to maximise NUI Galway’s impact. The Research Office and the Library will be in contact with all staff in the next few months regarding uploading of information onto the RSS and institutional repository.

ARAN Access to Research at NUI GAlway

ARAN is NUI Galway's new open access repository. ARAN collects preserves and makes freely available scholarly communication, including peer-reviewed articles, working papers and conference papers created by NUI, Galway researchers. Where material has already been published it is made available subject to the open-access policies of the original publishers.
