North/South Postgraduate Scholarships Scheme
These scholarships are worth €15,000 (approx. Stg£12,750) each. Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) – President of Ireland Young Researcher Award (PIYRA)
SFI has announced that the SFI President of Ireland Young Researcher Award (PIYRA) call is now open, and is accepting Expressions of Interest from 14 February 2011.
The President of Ireland Young Researcher Award (PIYRA) is Science Foundation Ireland's most prestigious award to recruit young researchers currently based around the world to carry out their research in third level institutions in Ireland. This premier programme emphasises the importance that Science Foundation Ireland places on the early development of academic careers. The award recognises outstanding engineers and scientists who, early in their careers, have already demonstrated or shown exceptional potential for leadership at the frontiers of knowledge. Awardees will be selected on the basis of exceptional accomplishments in science and engineering that underpin Biotechnology, Information and Communications technology, and Energy, and on the basis of creative research plans that are built on work that has attracted international attention. Deadline Reminder
The call for the 2011 RIA Mobility Grants Scheme and the RIA/Royal Society Joint Projects Scheme is now open.
The Mobility Grants Scheme, which is open to early career researchers, is aimed at helping researchers establish collaborations by funding short visits to any country to support primary research in any subject area.
The RIA and Royal Society Joint Prohects Grants Programme is designed to enable international collaboration by providing the marginal costs of research (ie) travel, subsistence and research expenses. The collaboration should be based on a single project including two teams or individuals: one based in Ireland, and the other in the UK. A relationship between both parties should already be established prior to making an application.

Royal Irish Academy (RIA)
The call for the 2011 RIA Mobility Grants Scheme and the RIA/Royal Society Joint Projects Scheme is now open.
The Mobility Grants Scheme, which is open to early career researchers, is aimed at helping researchers establish collaborations by funding short visits to any country to support primary research in any subject area.
The RIA and Royal Society Joint Prohects Grants Programme is designed to enable international collaboration by providing the marginal costs of research (ie) travel, subsistence and research expenses. The collaboration should be based on a single project including two teams or individuals: one based in Ireland, and the other in the UK. A relationship between both parties should already be established prior to making an application.

IRCSET/Égide/Teagasc - Ulysses Programme 2011
IRCSET in partnership with Égide and Teagasc, offer grants of up to €2,500 to Irish and French researchers to support visits linked to mutual scientific research projects. The Ulysses programmes facilitates the exchange of innovative ideas and approaches between Irish and French researchers and the development of mutual research projects by supporting Irish researchers visiting France and reciprocal visits by French researchers to Ireland. The programme also provides for the organisation of research workshops which bring together researchers from France and Ireland for the purpose of establishing research networks.
