Officials in HEA and D/ES discussed, inter alia, a number of matters relating to the Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest (No. 2) Act i.e. Pay Cuts.
Without exception, all publicly funded researchers are liable to the pay cuts announced under the Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest (No. 2) Bill, 2009.
Savings arising from the application of the pay cuts will, in time, have to be refunded to the Department of Finance by the relevant funding agencies.
The above budgets will be reduced in due course to reflect these amounts based on methodologies as advised by the relevant funding agencies.
Savings arising for awards funded from non state funding agencies remain in the budget.
Enterprise Ireland, Science Foundation Ireland, Health Research Board, FIRM, RSF(DAFF), PRTLI and the Marine Institute have all requested this to far.
