Innovation management is moving towards an open innovation model with industry, universities, and governments collaborating to support scientific development, wealth creation and publically beneficial activities. Industry-University research and innovation collaboration is one of the core features and elements of this open innovation model. This two-day Conference will provide practical insights how best business, academics and policy makers on the island of Ireland can exploit Industry-University research, development and innovation to best effect in context of our economic recovery.
 
The Conference will be of interest to business leaders and senior managers in all industry sectors including SMEs, senior managers in the public and third sector and anyone with a responsibility for the strategic development of a business or organisation. The Conference is co-organized with leading specialist research institutes at the University of Virginia, Dalhousie University, the National University of Singapore, the Korean Maritime Institute, Bergen University, and McInnes Cooper Halifax.
The conference is the 36th Annual Conference of the Center of Oceans Law and Policy at UVa and brings together international experts to examine a broad range of pressing regulatory matters concerning offshore industries in light of the Deepwater Horizon disaster in the Gulf of Mexico.
NUI Galway was also the principal organiser and co-hosted the 30th Annual COLP Conference on “Law, Science and Ocean Management” held at Dublin Castle in 2006.
