The Ryan Institute is located on the main NUI Galway campus, just a 10 minute walk from the city centre. For information on travelling to NUI Galway, visit NUIG’s “How to Find Us” page.

The Ryan Institute’s main NUI Galway footprint is divided between two main buildings:

The Martin Ryan Building, which is located adjacent to the river just off of University Road, is the base for some of our administrative and technical staff, the Ryan Institute Director Prof. Colin Brown, and most of the Institute’s Marine Researchers. You can view the location of the Martin Ryan Building on NUI Galway’s interactive campus map.

The Orbsen Building is best accessed by the Distillery Road entrance (adjacent to the AIB bank). This building houses several Ryan Institute laboratories and research groups, more of our administrative and technical staff, the development staff, the GIS Centre, and a large write-up space for Postgraduate students. You can view the location of the Orbsen Building on the interactive campus map.

If driving to the Ryan Institute, please take care to ensure that you follow proper procedures for parking. Information on parking on campus can be found here.
