Ryan Institute GIS Centre (RI-GIS)

The Ryan Institute GIS Centre runs short training courses in proprietary and free and open software GIS applications and in the use of national and global geospatial data.

The Ryan Institute GIS Centre provides research support and training to staff and researchers from all five Colleges at National University of Ireland Galway.

The Ryan Institute GIS Centre is represented by staff in each of the five colleges at NUI Galway:

Stephen’s interests are in the numerical modelling of marine waters from shallow coastal waters to the deep ocean. Particular processes of interest are tidal circulation, transport of pollutants, water quality and primary production.

Akke Vellinga is an epidemiologist. She started working for the NUI Galway in 2005. She now divides her time between two half time positions; a senior lectureship in primary care and a lectureship in bacteriology (epidemiology).

Dr Benjamin Thébaudeau is the Senior GIS Technical Officer at the Ryan Institute GIS Centre.  Dr. Eve Daly is the Deputy Head of the GIS Centre.
