Principle Investigator

‌‌‌‌Javier González Miguel

Javier González-Miguel completed his PhD at the University of Salamanca (Spain) in 2015, obtaining the PhD Extraordinary Award for his doctoral thesis related to the study of the interaction between the parasite Dirofilaria immitis and the fibrinolytic system of its host. During his career, he has completed research stays at the University of Parma (Italy), the Sechenov University of Moscow (Russia) and the Institute of Natural Resources and Agrobiology of Salamanca (IRNASA-CSIC), where he is currently leading his own line of research as a Principal Investigator of a JIN project for young researchers supported by the Spanish Ministry of Science. This line focuses on studying the ability of the parasite Fasciola hepatica to exploit the host haemostatic system as a potential invasion and survival mechanism. In this context, Javier González-Miguel is collaborating with the Molecular Parasitology group to elucidate the molecular mechanisms of host-parasite relationships in fasciolosis.
