IRC-funded PhD Scholar

Morag TaiteMorag worked in the Deep-sea Biology and Cephalopods group as a summer intern, before being taken on to work on the IUCN red list of cephalopods. She subsequently applied for funding to start a PhD on cephalopods, first gaining a Tony Ryan scholarship, then Irish Research Council funding.  Morag’s first PhD research involved a DNA barcode study of juvenile and paralarval cephalopods collected during a series of transatlantic cruises.  Now that she has considerable sequencing experience, she is starting to study the evolution of various lineages of cephalopods in much more depth, beginning with cirrate octopods.
