Course overview

Research and teaching programmes in Science and Engineering at NUI Galway are integral to the six key enabling technologies (KETs) identified for the re-industrialisation of Europe. These include photonics, nanotechnology, advanced materials, micro- and nano-electronics, industrial biotechnology and advanced manufacturing. Multiple key enabling technologies are now recognised to be important building blocks of future advanced manufacturing platforms. This intensive structured MSc by research will provide students with advanced training in the application of these technologies in advanced additive and subtractive manufacturing pilot lines at NUI Galway.

Current project

All projects will converge towards the central theme encompassing the Application of multiple key enabling technologies to create an additive (inkjet & spray) and subtractive (laser) advanced (laser) advanced manufacturing pilot line. Special emphasis in 2016/17 will be on microfluidics, nanowires, and bioprinting.
