Developing sustainable agri-environmental measures

The AEU ha a long history in undertaking research that contributes to the development of sustainable agri-environmental policies. In particular, it is interested in the impacts of agricultural practices on non-iconic invertebrate species with potentially, as yet undiscovered, important ecosystem functions.

Developing sustainable forestry practices

The presence of the protected Kerry Slug in commercial forestry has provided the incentive to explore sustainable forestry practices in Ireland to ensure the protection of the species. We also work on ground beetle and mollusc communities in both deciduous and conifer forests.

Health benefits from interacting with nature
