This month a blog written by Melissa Finnerty , one of our Fourth year student in 2017-18, has been published in The Biochemist. In this blog, Melissa recounts her experience designing an outreach session on Astrobiology for her final year project. Melissa not only had to design the session but also had to deliver, evaluate and revise its content.  The project was supported by our outreach Programme Cell EXPLORERS directed by Dr Muriel Grenon, an outreach grant from the Biochemical society to Sarah Carroll , Postgraduate in education research in Biochemistry, and a collaboration with Blackrock Castle Observatory. The session was also worked on Shauna Lyons, an additional project student, with support from Claudia Fracchiolla. The final version designed by Sarah will be delivered during SPACE week 2018 in two schools on Galway city. Since the creation of the Cell EXPLORERS programme, more than 50 final year students from Biochemistry and the School of Natural Sciences, have been working on educational outreach research projects similar to Melissa's project.
