Edward Hind
Edward Hind graduated with a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Geography from Durham University (UK) and an M.Sc. (Tropical Coastal Management) from Newcastle (UK). His postgraduate research was focused on legislation designating marine protected areas in the Philippines.
Edward is currently undertaking a PhD studentship in the department of Sociology and Political Science at NUIG. His PhD is part of the
Irish Fishers’ Knowledge Project and the
Irish Fisheries
Science Research Partnership. The PhD is fully funded by the Irish Marine Institute. His current research is measuring the value of fishers’ knowledge (ecologically, socially and economically) as a tool for fisheries management. The region of focus for the research is around Galway Bay and the Aran Islands. His research is supervised by Dr. Brendan Flynn.
