Emma Martin
Emma Martin graduated with a B.A. (Hons) in Sociology, Social Anthropology and Development Studies from the University of Hull in the UK in 2002 and went on to graduate with an M.Sc. in Environmental Forestry from the University of Wales, Bangor in 2007. Her postgraduate research was focused on the ecological knowledge of coffee farmers in Guatemala, specifically in relation to the biodiversity and water conservation value of trees.
Emma was awarded a PhD studentship in the Political Science and Sociology Department to work on the
Irish Fishers’ Knowledge Project, part of the
Irish Fisheries Science Research Partnership and funded by the Marine Institute. Her research will document fishers’ knowledge of cod stocks in the Celtic Sea and also focus on its use in evaluating and managing these stocks. The research will be carried out under the supervision of Dr. Brendan Flynn.
