Ilaria Nardello
Dr. Ilaria Nardello was appointed as the National Coordinator of Ireland's
Marine Biotechnology Programme in December 2009. The Programme is led by the Marine Institute and is being implemented as part of the Marine Knowledge, Research & Innovation Strategy for Ireland 2007-2013 ("Sea Change").
In her capacity, Ilaria is engaged in promoting awareness of the development opportunity that marine biotechnology represents for Ireland, supporting and focusing the research community efforts, and creating productive ties among researchers, companies, and technological core facilities.
Ilaria's background is in biological oceanography, with a post-secondary school degree in "Natural Sciences" from the University of Florence (Italy), an EU masters in "Geographical Information Systems and Remote Sensing" from the University of Venice (Italy), and a Ph.D. in "Ecology and Management of the Biological Resources" (University of Viterbo, Italy). Before coming to Ireland, Ilaria worked and studied in the USA for four years, at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute and Old Dominion University.
