Erasmus+

The Erasmus+ programme aims at enhancing the quality and reinforcing the European dimension of higher education as well as at increasing student and staff mobility. It enriches students’ lives not only in the academic field, but also in the acquisition of intercultural skills and self-reliance. The ERASMUS University Charter was awarded to Shannon College in 2006 and since then, Shannon College has been an active participant of the programme. In 2014, the Charter was again awarded to Shannon College and the college is participating in the recently launched Erasmus+ programme.

Over 50 students completed their Year 2 Work Placement in Europe each year. Shannon College has over 40 partner hotels across seven countries in Europe (Spain, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland and the UK); where students can complete their Year 2 Work Placement.

Mobility Grant

Students who are participating in the Erasmus+ programme will be eligible for a mobility grant to assist with the cost of travel to and living in the partner country. The Placement Office can provide further information on the mobility grant application procedure.

University Charter

The ERASMUS University Charter (EUC) provides the general framework for all the European cooperation activities, which a higher education institution may carry out within the ERASMUS programme. Awarded by the European Commission following a call for proposals, the Charter sets out the fundamental principles and the minimum requirements with which the higher education institution must comply when implementing its ERASMUS activities. (European Commission, 2013)
