Minimum Entry Requirements
At least a Second Class Honours, Grade 2 degree in a social science or related discipline or equivalent. Development work experience is not a requirement for entry into the Programme, although accumulated work experience will be taken into account in assessing your application.
Selection Criteria
A maximum of fourteen participants are admitted each year and the places are filled on the basis of completing a postgraduate application form (closing date 22 March 2013) and a short interview procedure, normally held in April. The selection of candidates places emphasis on the applicants’ academic achievement; enthusiasm, commitment and motivation for community development; and evidence of relevant experience.
Admission Checklist
In order to process your application, you must have:
- Completed the full application form online
- Provided a 600 word personal statement on why you wish to study community development and how it fits into your career objectives
- Provided at least two references to support your application, one of which must be an academic reference
- Official qualifications and exam results (transcripts) to date: required for all non-NUIG applicants and for NUIG graduates who did not receive their undergraduate degrees from NUI Galway. Copies of originals must be certified as true copies. (
