BA WITH GLOBAL WOMEN'S STUDIES
Overview
Programme Description
The BA with Global Women’s Studies is a four-year programme that enhances the traditional three-year BA by incorporating Global Women’s Studies as: i) an additional Specialism in first and second year; and ii) as the principal, practical focus of third year.
Global Women’s Studies may be combined with a wide variety of Arts subjects including:
- Archeology
- Classics
- Economics
- English
- French
- Geography
- German
- History
- Information Technology
- Irish
- Italian
- Philosophy
- Political & Sociological Studies
- Spanish
Four subjects (including Global Women’s Studies) are taken in First Arts. Subjects are organized in seven timetable groups and not more than one subject may be taken from any one group. Global Women’s Studies will be delivered in the timetable of Arts subject group 2, and may therefore not be studied together with the subjects Legal Science, Psychology /Psychological Studies or Celtic Civilization.
Two of the subjects chosen in First Arts, plus Global Women’s Studies, are studied in second year. In third year students pursue a full year of study and activities with a primary focus on topics relating to Global Women’s Studies. In fourth year, students complete their studies in their two BA Degree subjects, and will normally incorporate in their final projects knowledge gained in through the Global Women’s Studies specialism.
