Welcome to the Spanish Department at NUI Galway.

We offer courses in Spanish at undergraduate, postgraduate and diploma levels. Many of our students are beginners, who take our intensive basic Spanish course as first year undergraduates.

In the Spanish Department we are especially interested in the study of Spanish language and linguistics, and we also specialise in Latin American literature. We offer research supervision in these areas, to PhD level.

Almost all of our undergraduate students take the BA International, a four-year programme that entails studying abroad in either Spain or Mexico. Students on the B.Comm. International and B. Corp. Law programmes also spend a year studying at a university in Spain.

We use a web-based system called Blackboard for many of the modules that we teach.
