BA/BA International (Spanish) - 2nd Year
Overview
The course outline/syllabus for the Second Year of the B.A. and B.A. Connect aims to enable students to build on their skills in Spanish Language and to develop a sound knowledge of selected aspects of Spanish and Latin American literature and culture. Whether you have begun Spanish as a complete beginner in First Year, or entered at post-Leaving Cert level, the course will offer you a range of language and content modules that will enhance your competences and challenge you to reach the level you will need in order to get the maximum benefit out of the Year Abroad, to be spent in Spain or Latin America, which is the goal you should have in mind this year.
In Semester 1, there are separate language groups for ex-beginners and ex-intermediate level students (the modules SH227 and SH226 respectively. Students also take SH232 Hispanic Literature and Culture I. In Semester 2, all students take the same language course (SH228) and the module SH233 Hispanic Literature and Culture II (details below). Students taking the B.A. Connect programmes take just one of the Literature and Culture modules, i.e., SH232 or SH233, with the exception of students on the B.A. Connect with Latin American Studies.
