Course rationale:
To provide a practical summary to Heads and their appointed Safety Co-ordinator on the main management measures to be implemented in their Unit.
Course aim:
To brief Heads of Units and their nominated Safety Co-ordinator on the main safety management requirements necessary in their Unit. The Head's responsibilities are set out in Part 2.2.2.4 of the NUI Galway Safety Statement. The role of Safety Co-ordinator is to assist their Head in discharging these requirements but the Head remains responsible for them

Unit safety responsibilities and structure
Unit Safety Statement and Risk Assessment (PEMAC Care)
Other Safety Functions

Measuring and Reviewing Performance
Safety Audits
Prerequisites:
It is strongly recommended that each Head and their nominated Safety Co-ordinator attend the briefing jointly, to get the most benefit from the session.
