Course rationale:	This is a FETAC Level 5 course which is designed to provide the learner with the knowledge, skills and understanding required to provide and co-ordinate first aid in the workplace in compliance with the Safety Health and Welfare (General Applications) Regs, 2007. IMPORTANT: First aid refresher training is required once every two years and AED (Defibrillator) refresher training every eight months, as per Health and Safety legislation and regulations.
Target group:	Nominated staff on behalf of their School/Unit.
Content:	Primary survey, Making a diagnosis, Reporting an accident/incident, First aid instruction, NUI Galway policy and procedures.
Prerequisites:	The FETAC registration fee in the sum of €30 must be borne by the College/School/Discipline and the relevant budget code for this payment must be submitted to Organisation and Staff Development in advance of training.
