Course aim:
Our aim is to help create a culture that is supportive of work/life balance, while being fair and consistent in the application of approval and support. There are institutional policies in place regarding flexible working, parental, carer, and maternity/paternity leave, but these policies are implemented and overseen by line managers making day-to-day decisions.
Course objectives:
This workshop will provide management support and training that outlines best practice and practical applications of policy. It intends to provide managers the opportunity to discuss challenges and get specific advice.
Target group:
Line-managers and Supervisors
Management and Leadership advise on:
How to create a culture that values and supports all staff
How to support and manage employees with caring responsibilities
How to manage leave approval fairly and consistently
How to support and manage transitions from leave back to work
The Office of the Vice President for Equality and Diversity is working with the assistance of an organisation called Mumager ( to provide training support to line managers in effectively managing employees with leave and flexible working arrangements.
