Budget 21 €250 Covid Fund
Covid-19 Once Off Emergency Allowance
The Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science has introduced a Covid-19 Once Off Emergency Allowance of €250 for SUSI and higher education students.
Eligibility
You are eligible for the Covid-19 Allowance of €250 if you meet all of the following criteria:
- Full time
- EU Undergraduate student or EU Postgraduate student
- Ordinarily registered in NUI Galway at the 1st November 2020
Please note, there is no requirement to apply for the credit or contact the University. Eligible students will automatically receive the €250 as follows:
For those eligible students already in receipt of fee or grant funding from Student Universal Support Ireland (SUSI) in 2020/21:
- You will receive your €250 from SUSI. For further information, please refer to SUSI website – link
- If you have applied to SUSI and have not yet received a decision on your 2020/21 application, a €250 payment from SUSI or a €250 credit on your NUI Galway student fees account will be applied, once a SUSI awarded decision has been made.
For all other eligible students:
You will receive your €250 credit from NUI Galway.
- €250 has already been applied to your account (on the 17th December 2020).
- If you have fees owing, this credit is automatically allocated against these fees.
- If you do not have fees owing, you will receive a €250 refund. The Fees office will contact you shortly to enable the issuing of a refund.
