Ours is one of the oldest and largest universities in Ireland. Beginning with just 68 students, our campus community now numbers over 21,000 students and staff. From humble beginnings, today we are counted as among the top 2% in the world (according to QS World University Rankings 2022). The role of Student Recruitment and Outreach is to attract ambition and excellence in our future students who will become our next generation of leaders, innovators and change makers.

We support prospective undergraduate and postgraduate students by providing an annual calendar of informative and engaging activities and events (such as open days, taster days and information evenings) aimed at future students and other important stakeholders including parents, guidance counsellors, teachers and principals. We showcase the possibilities for future students in our distinctive location within a global hub for technology, innovation and creativity and we aim to provide clear, accurate and relevant information to support students’ decision making. We provide a comprehensive school liaison programme across the 32 counties and through our outreach activity, we share University of Galway’s teaching and research expertise with the wider community and inspire younger students to aim towards university education. Finally, through insights, feedback and analysis, we support the University of Galway academic community in planning for the undergraduate and postgraduate courses of the future.
