Higher Education Grants
Applications for maintenance grants and non tuition charge must be made to your Local Authority. Before registration can be completed, written confirmation of your award from the Local Authority must be produced. In some cases this evidence will be available in early September but in other case not until late September. Students who cannot produce evidence of an award from the Local Authority must pay €1,122.00 to NUI Galway in advance of registration. Payment of the non tuition charge will be refunded to grant holders only when the University has received the fee payment from the relevant grant authority.
All students in receipt of County Council / VEC Grants or Scholarships are required to pay the Student Levies of €222.00. These levies are NOT covered by the Grant Scheme. Student Levies are used for the development of student sports, social and recreational facilities.
