Childcare facilities in the community
The University Creche
This building has been designed, furnished and equipped to the highest standards for children from three months to five years. The creche caters for 45 children and facilities include a baby room, a toddler room and Montessori and play rooms.
We would advise all prospective parents to reserve your place as soon as possible as places are given on a first come first served basis.
The creche is located just off campus at No. 50 Upper Newcastle Galway, close to Corrib Village. Policies and Procedures are available from the creche for parents.
For more information, please contact Christine or Fiona on 353 (0)91 493 739 or email

Childcare subsidy
The childcare subsidy is made to students who qualify to help them with the costs of childcare. The payment is means-tested (income, family circumstances etc.) and is not intended to pay all of your childcare costs. Please note that not all students qualify for the childcare subsidy.
Funding comes from the Student Assistance Fund. To be eligible for this subsidy, you must be attending a course of at least one year's duration leading to an undergraduate or postgraduate qualification.
