Yes, Find out all you need to know by reading our online Student Guide Book. Click here for the English Version and here for the Irish one. You will receive a copy of this Guide in the post once you have accepted your place in NUI Galway.
Do I have to attend Orientation?
Yes, Orientation is obligatory for all first years and it is an opportunity for students and their parents to find out about the University, meet the staff and find out more about the campus.
What happens at orientation?
You will get to hear about your individual College, get your timetable, the services available to students while in NUI Galway and meet your Student Connect Mentors.
Do I have to have a Student Connect Mentor?
Yes. You will be matched with your mentor during the orientation meeting. Your first meeting will involve meeting your Mentor and a new group of first year students from the same College. You will be brought on a tour of the campus followed by a cup of coffee and a chat with your mentor and fellow students. Feel free to ask you mentor any questions you might have about the orientation or college during this meeting.
What about Lecture Timetables?
Check your College Handbook; it is your primary source of information on everything to do with your course. You will be given this at Orientation. If you are unsure about anything ask for help. If you misplace your timetable, get another one from a colleague or from your College/school.
