2. What kind of projects qualify for funding?
Projects that are innovative in nature and lead to the commercialisation of a product or process.
3. Does my company qualify?
All manufacturing, processing and research companies dealing with science, engineering, technology and internationally tradable goods and services are eligible to participate.
4. How much time is taken up with the submission process?
The Company, Researcher and the TTI populate the application submission to Enterprise Ireland. Particular input from the Company relates to outlining the commercial benefits in terms of market share, new business etc.
5. Is it essential there be resulting IP from the project to qualify for funding or be of interest to the academic?
No. Provided the project is seen to be commercially beneficial to the company and of research interest to the academic, collaboration can be achieved.
6. After submission of the project proposal, when can I expect a result?
The turnaround time is normally 4-6 weeks.
7. What are the basic requirements to qualify for an innovation partnership project?
a. The research must be spent in Ireland and the economic impact in Ireland must justify the research investment.
b. At least one academic partner is required to justify an innovation partnership.
c. Qualifying research must be industrial and not experimental.
d. Research must be of commercial benefit to the company.
Normal Grant Level:
Mulit National Company ( MNC ) - Grant is 55% ( 60% if in the BMW region )
Small Medium Enterprise ( SME ) - Grant is 65% ( 70% if in the BMW region )
8. What is the company required to contribute?
The company contribution is generally by means of cash. In some circumstances the company can make an in-kind contribution in relation to materials or equipment of up to 20% of the total agreed project costs. Some consideration may also be given to company expertise participating in the research, this is dealt with on a case by case basis.
