SFI UREKA Site in Molecular Recognition
Translating Design into Application
Dr. David Finn
,
Dept. of Pharmacology and Therapeutics
The overall objective of Dr. Finn’s research is to increase understanding of the neurobiological mechanisms underpinning pain, anxiety, inflammation and cognition. This work is concerned with elucidating the role of a number of different receptor types (cannabinoid, opioid, adrenoceptor, imidazoline, serotonin, vanilloid, N-type Ca2+ channels) in acute and chronic stress and pain. An integrative, whole systems neuroscience approach is employed, combining animal models with

and
ex vivo
measurement of neurochemical, neuroendocrine or molecular signalling in discrete brain regions.
