Dr. Andrew Flaus
, Dept. of Biochemistry
Dr. Flaus’ research focuses on the dynamics of chromatin and the nucleosome from a structure-function perspective. He is interested in the link between inherent dynamic properties of the nucleosome and active chromatin remodelling. Dr. Flaus is establishing his research group with 2 PhD students within the Centre for Chromosome Biology at NUI Galway. This cluster of 10 interactive groups work on topics linked to chromatin biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology. His laboratory facilities have full capabilities in DNA cloning, protein expression and purification. Detailed fluorescence measurements are made with the support of Dr Alan Ryder in the Nanoscale Biophotonics Laboratory nearby.
