Prof. Afshin Samali , Dept. of Biochemistry

Prof. Samali's main research objective is to delineate the signalling pathways during cellular stress and apoptosis. In particular, Prof. Samali's research group focuses on:
1) Communication between cellular organelles
2) Mechanism of apoptosis induced by stress to the endoplasmic reticulum
3) Mechanisms of inhibition of apoptosis by heat shock proteins
4) Development of novel cancer therapeutics based on TRAIL
