Dr Tony Royle is author of Working for McDonald’s in Europe and Co-Editor of Labour Relations in the Global fast-Food Industry. He has worked and studied in the UK , Canada and Germany and undertook part of his studies at the University of Paderborn in Germany . Before taking up the post as Senior Lecturer, Dr Royle was previously Reader in International and Comparative Industrial Relations at the Nottingham Business School , Nottingham Trent University and visiting international research associate at the Centre for Innovation and Structural Change (Whitaker Institute), National University of Ireland, Galway and visiting lecturer at Nottingham University Adult Education Centre. Dr Royle has had a wide range of teaching and course administration experience at both undergraduate and post-graduate levels and has acted as supervisor, external and internal examiner at PhD level. He is currently Chair of the Management Department PhD committee and the Paddy Moriarty PhD Fellowship Committee. He was appointed to the Executive of the British Industrial Relations Research Association (BUIRA) in July 2003 and has been a member of the UK ’s Economic and Science Research Council (ESRC) Virtual College since November 2003. Dr Royle is external examiner at the London School of Economics and the University of Wales , Swansea and regularly acts as a referee and reviewer for a number of British and American academic journals and publishers. His international employment research on McDonald’s and the global quick food service industry has received international acclaim, resulting in interviews on television and radio in the UK and abroad and a number of reviews in the international press; his work is widely cited in international academic publications and he has also acted as advisor to the European Parliament’s Social Affairs Committee in the area of employment relations in multinational companies.
