Enterprise Agility
Researchers in the Enterprise Agility cluster are focusing on improving an organization’s ability to drive change, to sense and respond readily to change, and to learn from that change in today’s business environment of unprecedented turbulence. Research in this cluster focuses on agile and lean methods of software development and their ability to proactively harness change. This cluster includes 20 staff, 5 postdoctoral researchers and 15 existing doctoral students, across the School of Business & Economics (i.e., Accountancy & Finance, Business Information Systems, Management and Marketing), the School of Law, the School of Psychology, CROLS, and DERI.
The group has attracted over €4m in direct funding and has been involved in national and European project consortia attracting over €30m. Sources of direct funding include the EU Commission, Science Foundation Ireland, the Fulbright Commission, Enterprise Ireland, and IRCSET. The funding has been used to establish strong industry links, establishing the Agile Forum with ITAG, a monthly research and industry seminar series for showcasing NUI Galway research, which now attracts up to 40 companies per event.
The group has secured €2.5m in industry contribution to NUI Galway to sustain this activity until 2015. Contributors include international market and technology leaders in their field, such as Information Mosaic (Dublin), Intel (Leixlip), Ericsson (Athlone), Cisco (Galway), Lumension Security (Galway), APC Schneider (Galway) and QAD (Shannon), as well as leading consultants in agile and lean management, namely Almir (Limerick) and Lean Business Systems (Limerick).
Kieran has now created a formal link between this cluster and the University of Limerick, and incorporating the group into the Lero research centre, adding NUI Galway to the existing consortium of UCD, UL, Trinity and DCU.
