Professor Roger Mac Ginty (University of Manchester)
| ISSP Seminar (CA110), JE Cairnes Building | 1.00pm :: 20th March 2013 |
Many orthodox measures of peace favoured by international organisations and INGOs are ‘precisely wrong’: they are methodologically precise but fail to capture what peace is and how it is experienced on the ground. This seminar will explore the idea of everyday peace indicators that draw on local perceptions of peace. The seminar discusses the technocratic imperative that drives much of the peacebuilding monitoring and evaluation ‘industry’.
This seminar is part of the 2013 Whitaker Institute Seminar Series.
