The usefulness of a national wellbeing index for Public Policy

This seminar will examine the literature on the economics of well-being and discuss current thinking on the construction of national well-being indices to guide policy. The paper will draw from large-scale survey data to examine the determinants of well-being across countries and discuss critically how such results should influence national well-being measures.
