New grants secured for Global Women's Studies
Nata Duvvury has secured the following grants for Global Women's Studies:
Older Women Workers’ Access to Pensions: Vulnerabilities, perspectives and strategies (Funded by CARDI)
Pension reform is today a key policy issue within Ireland, North and South, in the context of the current economic and financial crisis. Yet there is little discussion of the gender dimensions of these changes. This interdisciplinary study being carried out by researchers from National University of Ireland, Galway, Teagasc and Queen’s University Belfast will examine the position of older women workers, rural and urban, focusing on their access to economic security, particularly pensions.
Gender Equality, Sexual and Reproductive Health, and Poverty Reduction: Understanding the Links with Economic Growth and Improvements in Household Income (Funded by UNFPA)
This joint project between NUIG and McGill University researchers will explore the interaction between gender equality, including sexual and reproductive health rights, and poverty reduction to understand the key pathways by which gender equality influences improvements in household income (and potentially economic growth). The insights gained will input into the development of an analytical framework for studying the links between various dimensions of gender equality and poverty reduction that can inform current debates on accelerating the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals.
