cURRICULUM vITAE
October 2009 - present: National University of Ireland, Galway, Ireland. PhD candidate in the evolutionary developmental biology laboratory under the supervision of Professor Wallace Arthur and Dr. Gerhard Schlosser.
June - September 2009: University College Dublin, Ireland. Research assistant in the laboratory of Dr. Kay Nolan.
September 2005 – June 2009: University College Dublin, Ireland. Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Zoology, 1st class.
Research Interests
My doctoral work is in the emerging field of evolutionary developmental biology, where my research concerns the little-studied centipedes (Chilopoda), where my central focus is on the genes of the Wntfamily. The various strands of my research include:
• The development mechanisms underlying segmentation
• Conserved mechanisms of anteroposterior growth and development
• The development of novel structures
• The evolution of segment number variability in Strigamia maritima
