SFI-funded Postdoctoral Researcher

Claire Laguionie-MarchaisClaire has an MSc in Oceanography and a PhD in deep-sea biology from University of Southampton.  She interned in MBARI and has worked at the Natural History Museum, London, and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute.  Prior to joining NUI Galway, she worked as a deep-seabed image analysis for the UK National Oceanography Centre.  She is currently employed on SFI Investigator Programme Award15/IA/3100 Exploiting and conserving deep-sea genetic resources analysing the economic potential of deep-sea corals and sponges and generating data that will lead to predictive maps of deep-sea biodiscovery hotspots.
