Whitaker Institute
Whitaker Institute for Innovation and Societal Change
The Institute is the the largest critical mass of business and social science researchers in Ireland, with expertise spanning across the College of Business, Public Policy and Law and the College of Arts, Social Sciences and Celtic Studies. The Institute is inspired by the legacy of pioneering statesperson Dr. T.K. Whitaker, and aims to adopt a similarly innovative, multidisciplinary and transformative approach to the challenges currently facing business and society, both in Ireland and internationally.
Irish Centre for Social Gerontology
The ICSG is a multidisciplinary research centre on ageing at NUI Galway. ICSG focuses on research, education and training in the field of social gerontology in Ireland and internationally. Developing and promoting social and economic aspects of ageing in Ireland to support a holistic and positive view of ageing and act as a source for all involved in ageing in Ireland
Socio-Economic Marine Research Unit
The main research focus of the unit is on the economic importance of coastal and off-shore marine environments. This involves examining the economic utility of the marine environment and ecological value derived from the productivity of associated ecosystems.

Irish Centre for Rural Transformation and Sustainability
There is a long tradition of research, teaching and consulting in rural development at NUI, Galway. ICERTS brings together these various strands from the Economics, Management, Marketing, Political Science and Sociology, Geography, Law and Health Promotion.
