HDipAppSc: A higher diploma in Mathematics is a flexible 9-month programme that bridges the gap between a four-year mathematics programme and one that has a substantial mathematical component, but that is not to the same level as an honours degree. It opens opportunities to taught and research Masters programmes, as well as the many career options open to Mathematics graduates. Students take six modules each semester chosen from a catalogue of appropriate advanced mathematical modules.
MSc: The MSc in Mathematics is a dynamic and research-led one-year programme which covers advanced mathematical topics and includes a substantial project. Apart from taking 60 ECTS worth of advanced modules, throughout the year, students work on a 30 ECTS minor dissertation on a topic of current interest. This provides them with training in modern research techniques, as well as presentation and report-writing skills. The School offers a lively environment. There are several weekly research seminars on topics in various areas of Mathematics. Students are also encouraged to participate in the workshops hosted by the School's de Brún Centre for Mathematics.
PDip: This bridges the gap between four-year programmes with a substantial mathematical component, and those that are broader in focus or shorter in duration. It opens opportunities to taught and research Master’s programmes, as well as the many career options available to Mathematics graduates.

Requirements and Assessment
HDipAppSc: examination and project work.
MSc: Course (two-thirds weight) and minor dissertation(one-third weight).
Higher diploma students should hold a bachelor’s degree involving at least 35 ECTS of appropriate mathematics or applied mathematics modules or equivalent.
Masters’ students should hold a bachelor’s degree, involving a significant mathematical component at upper second-class honours level.

HDipAppSc & PDip: Students take a broad range of courses in Algebra, Analysis, Topology, Numerical Analysis, and Statistics. In addition, each student completes a project, supervised by an academic member of staff.
MSc: Students take four courses per semester. Throughout the year, students work on a minor dissertation on a topic of current interest, during which they receive training in modern research techniques, as well as developing presentation and report-writing skills. The School offers a lively environment for studying a Masters. There are several weekly research seminars on topics in various areas of mathematics. Students are also encouraged to participate in the workshops hosted by the School’s de Brún Centre for Computational Algebra.
