Results of the 2021 Governing Authority Election
Following this week’s election and counting of votes, these are the results of the Graduate Elections for the next Údarás na hOllscoile, 2021-2025.
The results are as follows:
There were four positions to be filled in the Graduate Constituency, with at least one of these positions to be filled by a woman, and one to be filled by a man.
A total of 4,264 votes were cast in the Graduate constituency. In addition, there were 13 invalid votes. In accordance with Seanad Éireann rules, each vote is deemed to be of the value of one thousand. The quota for this constituency was 852,801.
No candidate reached the quota in this constituency.
Candidates with the lowest number of votes were successively eliminated in Counts 2-14 and their votes were transferred across remaining candidates.
At Count 14, only 5 candidates remained and the top 4 ranked candidates were deemed elected following the exclusion of the lowest ranked candidate.
The following candidates were deemed elected:
In accordance with Election Regulations adopted by Údarás na hOllscoile, counting of votes was via Proportional Representation with Single Transferable Vote (PRSTV) with fractional transfer (i.e. Seanad Éireann rules).
Counting of votes was conducted by Mi-Voice Limited in their role as Independent Scrutineers, with two independent observers, Mr Meredith Lulling, Project Manager, MAPS, and Mr Peter Feeney, Head of Corporate and Legal Affairs, reporting to the Returning Officer, the Secretary for Governance & Academic Affairs, Caroline Loughnane.
Torthaí Thoghchán Údarás na hOllscoile, 2021
Agus toghchán na seachtaine seo agus comhaireamh na vótaí tagtha chun críche, seo iad torthaí Thoghchán na gCéimithe a fhógairt don chéad Údarás eile, 2021-2025.
Caitheadh 4,264 vóta san iomlán i dtoghlach na gCéimithe. Ina theannta sin bhí 13 vóta neamhbhailí. De réir rialacha Sheanad Éireann, meastar go bhfuil luach aon mhíle amháin ag gach vóta. Ba é 852,801 cuóta an toghlaigh seo.
Níor bhain aon iarrthóir an cuóta amach sa toghlach seo.
Cuireadh as an áireamh na hiarrthóirí leis an líon ba lú vótaí i gComhaireamh 2-14 agus aistríodh a gcuid vótaí chuig na hiarrthóirí eile.
I gComhaireamh 14, ní raibh fanta ach cúigear (5) iarrthóirí agus measadh go raibh an ceathrar (4) iarrthóirí leis an líon ba mhó vótaí tofa tar éis an t-iarrthóir leis an líon ba lú vótaí a chur as an áireamh.
Meastar go bhfuil na hiarrthóirí seo a leanas tofa:
De réir Rialacháin an Toghcháin a ghlac Údarás na hOllscoile, rinneadh comhaireamh na vótaí trí Ionadaíocht Chionmhar le hAonvóta Inaistrithe (PRSTV) le haistriú codánach (i.e. rialacha Sheanad Éireann).
Rinne Mi-Voice Limited comhaireamh na vótaí ina ról mar Scrúdanóirí Neamhspleácha agus bhí beirt bhreathnóirí neamhspleácha ann, Meredith Lulling, Bainisteoir Tionscadail, MAPS, agus Peter Feeney, Ceann Gnóthaí Corparáideacha agus Dlí, ag tuairisciú don Cheann Comhairimh, an Rúnaí Rialachais & Gnóthaí Acadúla, Caroline Loughnane.
