University of Galway named #1 University in Ireland for sustainable development

The University has ranked 47th globally, no 1 in Ireland in the impact rankings.

University of Galway has been named the number one university in Ireland for sustainable development.

There is a significant achievement in the midst of this, the Buildings & Estates FM team, managed to achieve no 5 in the world for SDG 12 – Responsible Production and Consumption with a 100% score for operational measures.  They also hit 98.2 on recycling.

The 2022 edition of Times Higher Education’s Impact Rankings ranks the University 47th out of 1,406 institutions around the world, breaking into the top 50 after being in 82nd position last year.

The report also puts University of Galway as the fifth best university in the world for Sustainable Development Goal 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production. Read the full news article

The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings are the only global performance tables that assess universities against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). They use carefully calibrated indicators to provide comprehensive and balanced comparison across four broad areas: research, stewardship, outreach and teaching.

The 2022 Impact Rankings is the fourth edition and the overall ranking includes 1,406 universities from 106 countries/regions.
