Biography




Aine was conferred with her Phd in November 2018. Her Phd is entitled 'Independent living for adults with intellectual disabilities in post conflict countries. A comparative analysis of the implementation of Article 19 UNCRPD in Northern Ireland and Bosnia Herzegovina.' Her research was supervised by Prof. Eilionoir Flynn and funded by the Irish Research Council.

Aine is currently the Research and Advocacy Officer at Dublin Simon Community and before this was a member of the Research and Policy Section at the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission.

Aine has worked with a wide variety of Irish and International human rights groups including the National Platform of Self Advocates, Disability Federation of Ireland, Oxfam Ireland, Rights Watch UK and Amnesty International USA. Her research interests span all areas of social justice which is reflected in her career to date. However the rights of persons with disabilities, housing and community participation of marginalised communities are of particular interest to her. Aine tutored in Constitutional law during her Phd.

Aine obtained her Bachelor of Civil Law from UCD in 2010 and received her Masters of Law from Trinity College Dublin in 2011.
