Postgraduate Diploma in Academic Practice

Those who have sucessfully completed the Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning (MAP3) - modules CEL260, CEL261 & CEL262 (30 ECTS total) may then progress to the Postgraduate Diploma in Academic Practice which is a part time, 30 ECTS programme, aimed to help you develop your practice in your academic roles. The programme offers a professional qualification in academic practice for staff at NUI Galway, and is designed to be flexibile, research-informed and practice-based. Successful participants with a total of 60 ECTS (Pg Cert and Pg Dip) will receive a Postgraduate Diploma in Academic Practice. You can find more information on the individual modules .
A further 30 ECTS (ie a total of 90 ECTS) to lead to a Masters in Academic Practice.

Please contact karen.okennedy@nuigalway.ie should you wish to progress to the Diploma in Academic Practice from the Postgraduate Certificate in Teachinga and Learning in Higher Education, or are interested in registering/completing a Diploma module in AY 2022/23

Entry Requirements
Entry to the Postgraduate Diploma in Academic Practice is open to those who have successfully completed the requirements for the award of the Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (30 ECTS). Applicants with equivalent qualifications obtained from other institutions may also be considered by the Course Committee, but such candidates will be required to provide a detailed Teaching Portfolio matching the format and standards of the current NUI Galway course. It is possible to take individual modules without necessarilly undertaking the full Diploma. Please contact the Programme Co-ordinator to discuss this.
