New Postgraduate Diploma / Masters of Arts in Community, Youth and Family

Date Released: 20 October 2020

The UNESCO Child and Family Research Centre at NUI Galway is delighted to announce a new Postgraduate Diploma / Masters of Arts in Community, Youth and Family, with an emphasis on programme planning and evaluation. The Centre has a long and established history of offering full and part-time education programmes on the topics of child, youth and family, most notably the existing BA in Child, Youth and Family: Policy and Practice and the PGDip/ MA in Family Support.

This postgraduate offering, with the focus on programme planning and evaluation, has been developed on the back of the Centre’s international reputation and expertise for policy and practice research, particularly evidence informed programme planning, implementation and evaluation in the context of child, youth and community services. The MA is designed to respond to the needs of this funding dependent sector and meet the growing national and international donor requirement to provide scientific, robust evidence to measure the impact of social interventions.  This one year full-time / two-year part-time blended learning MA Programme, will enable students to be proficient in programme planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation methodologies. The Programme is designed for professionals already working in the community, voluntary and/or allied sectors and/or for those who have a specific expertise in, or understanding of the lives of children and youth and communities.
