REGISTRATION: 

Online Module selection Registration for Semester 1, 2023-24 opens on 21st August 2023 from 2:00 pm.  Further information is available at www.universityofgalway.ie/registration.

The Registration process is administered by the Registration Office, not by the Discipline of Music.  Should you have any difficulties, please contact registration@universityofgalway.ie in the first instance. 
Please review the following documentation BEFORE registering online for your Music modules:   

 It is VERY IMPORTANT to click on CONFIRM SELECTION and FINISH at the very end of the registration process in order to lock in all the modules for which you wish to register.

All Lectures for Music for Semester 1, 2023-2024 will begin on Monday, 4th September 2023

Overview of 2BMU1 Music

• In Semester One, students take TWO CORE modules and ONE optional module.
• In Semester Two, students take TWO CORE modules and ONE optional module.

Semester One Modules

CORE
1. MU2100 Harmony and Keyboard Harmony (2 lectures per week, 5 ECTs)

2. MU2102 Introduction to Composition (2 lectures per week, 5 ECTs)

Optional Modules

1. MU2103 Music Practice 2 (2 lectures per week, 5 ECTs)

OR

2. IS2105 Popular Music, Culture and Identities in Ireland (2 lectures per week, 5 ECTs)

Semester Two Modules

CORE

 1. MU2108 Music History 2 (2 lectures per week, 5 ECTs)

2. MU2107 Introduction to Sound Technology (2 lectures per week, 5 ECTs)

Optional Modules

1. MU2105 Musical Theatre (2 lectures per week, 5 ECTs)

OR

2. MU2104 Power, Hierarchies and Irish Traditional Music Practice (2 lectures per week, 5 ECTs)

2BMU1 Music Lecture Schedule Semester ONE

** MU2102 Tutorials will be confirmed with the lecturer at the start of term and expected to start from Week 2.

Please note additional Harmony & Keyboard Harmony tutorials with  Dr Aidan Thomson, Dr Amanda Feery and Dr Anne_Marie Hanlon  will be scheduled outside of the main timetable – to be announced on Canvas
