Information for 3rd Year Students, BA (Joint-honours), Archaeology 2023-2024

MA in Landscape Archaeology 2003 775

In Semester 1 2023/24 students must complete THREE core modules (AR343 'Public Archaeology'; AR338 'Explaining Prehistory – Current Research Trends', and AR3100 'Metal, Warfare and Chiefdoms – The Bronze Age Roots of European Civilisation').

In Semester 2 students are required to complete TWO core modules: AR332 'The Development of the Castle in Medieval Europe' and AR347 'Palaeoecology - reconstructing past environments'.

NOTE: THE OPTIONAL MODULE AR325 MINOR DISSERTATION IS ONLY OPEN TO STUDENTS WHO RECEIVED A MARK OF 60% OR ABOVE IN ARCHAEOLOGY IN SECOND YEAR.

Department of Archaeology Guide to Referencing and Citation

  • In line with on-going government guidelines and public health advice, most of this year’s teaching will take place on-campus (see 3rd year BA Archaeology handbook 2023-2024), unless otherwise advised.
  • Blackboard is our primary online interface for teaching and assessment, as well as for announcements. You will also occasonally receive email via Blackboard to your name@nuigalway.ie email account. You may also email your lecturers and admin staff in the normal fashion.
  • The 3rd year BA co-ordinator (2023-2024) is Maggie Ronayne.
