Dr Michal Molcho, Programme Director BA Children's Studies - Research Profile

Michal Molcho, Sociologist and Senior Lecturer in Children’s Studies Since 2016. Prior to this, Dr Molcho was a lecturer in Health Promotion since 2005 and the Chair Health Promotion Research Centre (HPRC) in 2015. Prior to moving to Ireland,  she worked in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, Bar Ilan University, Ramat-Gan, Israel (1996-2004) as a researcher and later as an associate researcher and project director in the Research Program on Adolescent Health. 

Dr Molcho’s research interests include: adolescents health; injuries; violence; social inequalities; and childhood cancer survivorship. 

 Dr Kate Harvey, Director,  BA Connect with Children's Studies - Research Profile

 Dr Kate Harvey is Lecturer in Children’s Studies and Director of the BA Connect with Children’s Studies since 2017. She has worked with the Children’s Studies programme at NUI Galway since 2013; from 2013-2016 she held a postdoctoral Teaching and Research Fellowship in Children’s Studies. Prior to this, Dr Harvey worked as an occasional lecturer at Trinity College Dublin and University College Dublin, where she taught courses on children’s literature, theatre, and medieval and early modern literature. She holds a B.A. and Ph.D from Trinity College Dublin and an M.A. from King’s College London. She regularly reviews children’s books for Children’s Books Ireland’s Inis magazine and annual Recommended Reading Guide.

Dr Harvey’s research interests include transmedial adaptation for children, Shakespeare in children’s media, theatre for young audiences, animation, and costume and clothing in children’s culture.

Dr Lindsay Myers - Research Profile

Dr Lindsay Myers is a lecturer in Italian and Children's Studies at NUI Galway. She introduced the BA Connect with Children's Studies to the University in 2008 and was a co-program designer of the BA Children's Studies which came on stream in 2015. She was Director of the BA Connect between 2008-2015.  Lindsay is Chairperson of the Board of Management of Galway Steiner National School, Knocknacarra.

Dr Meyers's research interests include,  20th Century European Children's Literature, Italian Children's Literature and Culture, The Child in Film, Fantasy Literature for Children and young Adults, Creativity in Education, Waldorf Steiner Education, Italian Culture and National Identity.
