Biography

Formally Lecturer with the Faculty of Education at Mount Saint Vincent University, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, for seven years, and Senior Lecturer at the School of Education at The Australian Catholic University in Melbourne, for two years, Kevin G. Davison is a Lecturer in Education with the School of Education, at NUI Galway. He contributes to the MEd programme as well as the BA and PME initial teacher education programmes in the following areas: sociology of education; gender and education; boys, masculinities, and academic underachievement; science outreach; and qualitative research methodologies. He is the author of several publications including the following two books: Negotiating masculinities and bodies in schools: The implications of gender theory for the education of boys (2007, Edwin Mellen Press) and Masculinities and schooling: International Practices and perspectives (2007, Althouse Press).

Research Interests

Kevin Davison currently researches and publishes in the areas of: gender and education; masculinities, bodies, boys and literacies, science outreach; as well as research methodologies in the postmodern condition. In addition to serving as guest co-editor on four special theme issues on boys, masculinity and education for The Journal of Men's Studies (2), The Canadian Journal of Education, and The McGill Journal of Education, he is the author of several publications including the following two books: Negotiating masculinities and bodies in schools: The implications of gender theory for the education of boys (2007, Edwin Mellen Press) and Masculinities and schooling: International Practices and perspectives (2007, Althouse Press).
